How to remove a Fishy, Musty Smell from Clothes.

A fishy smell will generally wash out with a good laundry detergent, however if you went wrestling with a 100 pound sturgeon and lost then the stain and smell will be a little more difficult to handle. Or perhaps you stored something in the closet that is damp and moist. In any case we will need to use a two step technique.

First launder the fishy, musty item with a good laundry detergent.

Liquid Laundry Detergent. (Vaska or Seventh Generation)

Then soak the item in an enzyme stain remover to eliminate the fishy, musty smell.

Enzyme stain remover. (BioKleen Bac-Out or Earth Friendly Product’s Everyday Stain & Odor Remover)

Seek professional help if necessary. Each garment and stain vary due to material, color, and structure. If you have a good relationship with your green dry cleaners they will be more than happy to help you with stain removal questions.
