How to Remove Maple Syrup Stains.
How to Remove Maple Syrup Stains.
Vermont maple syrup is classic Americana, next to baseball, hot dog, and apple pie. Unless you’re like me and use Mrs. Butterworth, Aunt Jemima or Log Cabin maple syrup, which is mostly high fructose corn syrup. Then it’s only simulated Americana. Nonetheless, the stain is the same and once the sugar is removed the other ingredients with float out along with it.
Seventh Generation Laundry Detergent:
1. Create a pre spotting solution with 1 part Seventh Generation Laundry Detergent and 10 parts water.
2. Apply a small amount of the solution directly onto the maple syrup stain.
3. Tamp with a brush to help the solution penetrate the stain.
4. Let it penetrate for a few minutes.
5. Blot with a wet towel followed by a dry towel.
Simple, Done?
I always suggest it is best to dry clean or launder garments when finished with the spotting process. Leaving residual spotting solutions on the garment will oxidize over time and cause yellowing.
