How to Remove Mustard Stains from a Cardigan.

A day at the ballpark with Giants Baseball, hotdogs with mustard makes for a great time to be had by all. But as you standup for the seventh inning stretch, singing, swaying to the chant, and waving your arms you fling mustard everywhere.

French’s Classic Yellow Mustard is one of the most popular mustards on the market. It contains mustard seeds, vinegar, water, and natural spices such a turmeric and paprika. At times spices can be difficult to remove and this is one of those times. Turmeric dyes material and will require some effort.

 

How are we going to remove all these mustard stains?

 

Before attempting any stain removal it is important to test the item for colorfastness. Take a white towel and apply a small amount of the spotting solution to a corner of the towel. Using that corner of the towel blot a hidden area of the item you wish to spot. Check the towel for color transfer, the amount of color transferred onto the towel will give you an indication of the amount of color loss that will occur during spotting or cleaning.

 

Fresh Mustard Stain:

*Hydrogen Peroxide is a bleaching agent and my remove color.

 

Dried Mustard Stain:

Reapply and launder again if necessary. Enzymes take a long time so be patient, soak overnight if necessary.

Old Oxidized Mustard Stain:
