New Flame Retardant Standard!

It’s official!!! The Governor of California Jerry Brown announced the new furniture flammability standard! Beginning in January 2014, new furniture will no longer need toxic flame retardants applied to the fabric. This is huge in terms of the toxic exposure from chemicals apply to your furniture that makes it flame retardant. What was meant to keep us safe is actually a health hazard. So remember, when shopping for furniture next year to ask if that piece is flame retardant free.  Thanks to Arlene Blum and the Green Science Policy Team in spearheading the change.
