How to Clean Patio furniture cushions
Question; I have cushions for my out door furniture that are extremely dirt from being outside all the time. How can I clean them?
Answer; Patio furniture cushions are washable but they are to big for your home machine. Even if you can get them into your front loading machine that much agitation will cause the batting inside to shift and be lumpy.
This is a hand (feet) washing task. We will have to use that large thing in the bath room called a bath tub. The best way to tackle this is to get a spray bottle and fill it with a solution of soap and water. Also get a large brush you can scrub with.
Step 1; Create a solution of 4 to 1. That’s 4 parts water to 1 part soap. Dish washing or laundry detergent will work well.
Step2; Spray solution on cushions and scrub with brush. Do not put cushions into the solution to soak, it will be saturated with the solution and you will have a difficult time rinsing all of it out.
Step 3: Fill tube with water a rinse cushions, this is were the feet come into play, use your feet to step all over the cushions to squeeze out the soapy water.
Step 4; repeat step 3 two or three more times until the water is soap free. If you have any soap residue in the cushions it will turn yellow after it dries.
Step 5; Leave out side in a warm sunny area to dry, hanging if possible. The cushions are synthetic so they should dry in a day. If they take more then 2 or 3 days to dry then it will start to mold.
Its a big job, good luck
