What Happens When You Wash Rayon?
This is a classic example of what happens when Rayon is washed.
Rayon is a fiber made from wood pulp and when it’s exposed to water the material becomes extremely stiff. With excess agitation from washing it will causes premature wear around the edges and often cause the seams to fray and split.
The best process to handle Rayon is to dry clean it. Gently hand washing with a mild pH neutral soap is an alternative for those who wish to clean it at home, but remember to always check for color bleeding and that washing it in the machine will cause damage like this due to excess agitation.
