Zero Breast Cancer Award

zero-breast-caner-award-for-webApril 23 ,2009 was a monumental night for all of us at Pacific Heights Cleaners in Sausaltio and San Francisco. We were honored with the Zero Breast Cancer’s Francine Levien Activist Award at the 10th annual Honor Thy Healer Ceremony.

Zero Breast Cancer has recognized us for removing the dangerous solvent from the dry cleaning process. These solvents have been linked to breast cancer along with other respiratory illnesses. According to the Union of Concern Scientist our system uses the universal solvent Water,  along with special computer controlled washers and dryers. Specialized detergents that are milder than home laundry products, and professional pressing equipment is used complete the process. The EPA considers Wet Clean one of the safest professional systems, it does not use hazardous toxic solvents, produce no air pollution, generates no hazardous by product or waste and reduces the potential of ground water contamination.

Zero Breast Cancer is a research organization that aims to identify environmental factors and the role they play in the development of breast cancer, our non toxic dry cleaning business practices aligns with there goal of breast cancer prevention. We have taken on the leadership role in promoting the health of the community and demonstrated that a small, neighborhood business can make a big impact on the community it servers.
